Small Actions Make Big Differences
This installation combines environmental graphic design with a participatory element. The Student Center aims to encourage dialogue around environmental sustainability. The message, “Small Actions Make Big Differences,” highlights the significance of individual efforts in addressing environmental issues and inspires students to take action.
I developed the concept based on the butterfly effect theory and the idea of a wind chime. The installation uses the small wind currents created by people walking past—causing the butterfly-shaped tin cans to spin—so that the message is revealed through subtle movement and interaction.
The design also features four sustainability facts promoted on the Student Center’s website. A butterfly template and cutting instructions are available online, allowing students to create their own butterflies and contribute to the installation, enhancing audience engagement.
