Things We Push Every Week

The Modern Sisyphus is a sound visualization project in the grocery store parking lot that borrows a receipt format. This project lets the audience realize that we push the shopping cart repeatedly as the punished Sisyphus eternally pushes the boulder up to the mountain in Greek Mythology and allows them to be aware of consumerism.

The dB meter application in the iPhone is utilized for recording and measuring sounds in the parking lot, and sounds are listed according to the distance from the main entrance of the store. Also, an additional receipt continues and rolls at the bottom of the art piece to enhance the idea of repetition.
